Saturday Linky Love, Version 2.0

I’m so excited for my first week of hosting Saturday Linky Love (formerly known as Saturday Stumbles). I so appreciate former hosts Mandi and Staci for starting this wonderful carnival.

Each week, I’ll share some of my favorite posts I ran across. I hope you’ll do the same on your own site and then share the link to that specific post here. (If you need help figuring out how to do a permalink to your post, not your main page, let me know in the comments.)

The linky will stay open all week so if you do your links post on another day, you can still add it. I’ll try to share your posts and some of the posts you loved on Twitter and Facebook during the week.

So, here are the posts that I loved this week.

  • Not My Word of the Day at Tricia Lott Williford – This cracked me up. I am guessing that makes me a real geek. Fard. Ha.
  • An Explanation for My Children at BehBehBlog – For mother bloggers who think about what their kids will think later …
  • Let’s Play … Pirate! at Nurture Store – Cute ideas for playing pirates with your kids, including a few fun pirate books.
  • YUM of the week: Chilaquiles at Food Pusher. I am DEFINITELY going to have to try to make these soon. Chilaquiles is my favorite Mexican dish and I haven’t had any in forever.

So, what did you read that was great this week? Link up here. You can grab the code for the button in the sidebar, if you want.

Well, guess what? As of next week, I am going to be hosting the Saturday Stumbles carnival that I’ve been linking to for years! I am so excited to be taking over for Staci. If you do any kind of links post during the week, I hope you’ll add it here!

I’ll be doing my best to Tweet and share your posts and promote your blogs in every way I can.

But for this week, here are just a few of my favorite things I read.

What’s the best thing you wrote or read this week?

Has it really been three weeks since I did a Linky Love post? April has flown right by. I can’t believe it’s practically May. Also known as THE MONTH I SHALL MAKE AN UPROAR ABOUT TURNING THIRTY.

Here’s what I’ve read lately that I think you should read, too.

I would love if you’d go read my guest post for this month at ParentLife. It’s about how parenting prepares you to do other scary things.

Beautiful, beautiful writing. I wonder some days how certain writers can continually pump out heartwrenching posts.

This week has been long and full of the post-Blissdom blues. (Where is my afternoon latte, Famous Footwear? Why isn’t anyone constantly providing me healthy snacks? And dude, no one is serenading me during lunch!)

Add in a couple chiropractic appointments – and relapse of the Hip Pain from Well, You Know – my yearly with my midwife, a meeting with my mentor, and your everyday parenting, and I have been WORN OUT. And today we have tornadoes coming through! Oh joy!

Anyway, here are some things I read this week you might enjoy. Feel free to leave a link to one of your best posts in the comments – or a complaint about your week.

This is Jessie, writing live from the Blissdom Conference, where I just managed to duck out of the Girls Night Out approximately 45 seconds before Rascal Flatts took the stage. I wanted to see them, but I cannot take the blaring loud music and having to shout for long periods of time. I am 300 years old.

So if you’re not at Blissdom and you need something to read tomorrow, here are a few good posts I read this week!

I think recipe week is over and things will be progressing more normally here for the time-being. Next weekend I am going to the Blissdom Conference, though, so who knows what crazy ideas I’ll be coming home with! Two years ago when I attended, I totally wanted to start a grammar blog. Then I got pregnant. So it turned into the Before You Hit Publish series. Which, someday, I will get the motivation to continue.

So here’s my weekly dose of stuff you should click over to read:

Read or written anything great this week? I’d love to read it. Leave me a link!

Here’s a picture I scanned this week. Libbie and I had an argument over whether it was me or her. Hehe. You can tell by the darker hair and 80s furniture that it is, indeed, me!

Dear Left Hip, I Hate You

If any of you has the gift of healing, please pray my left hip back where it should be. I am NOT kidding. I don’t know if I’ve talked about this a lot, but I’ve been in back pain since August, pretty much. I threw out my back in August and it’s never really gotten better. X-rays show uneven hips and curves where there shouldn’t be in my spine and neck.

Lately I’ve been going to the chiropractor three times a week. Well, I wasn’t feeling great on Saturday morning. And since Saturday night I’ve been nearly immobile. Awesome.

The good part? I’ve done some good reading.

I’ve finished The Red Tent (for probably the fourth or fifth time, but it had been awhile!), Foreign Correspondence (LOVED IT), One Bite at a Time, and have read a large chunk of What She Doesn’t Know by Tina Wainscott (free on Kindle!).

I also managed to take out a big chunk of my Google Reader the other night, reading on Mr. V’s iPad. Here are some of my favorites that I read:

Have you read anything good lately?
